Jeff Vinson brings over twenty (22) years experience in tax consulting, compliance, planning and preparation to your service. He graduated from Texas Tech University in May of 1992 with a Bachelor's in Accounting and a Masters of Science in Accounting with an emphasis in Taxation. He started his accounting career with an international accounting firm working in Amarillo and Dallas.

Jeff has served over twenty (20) financial institutions, ranging from $25 million to $4 billion in assets with multi-state operations and multiple subsidiaries. His financial institution experience also includes working with a farm credit association, mortgage, leasing, investment, insurance and title companies.

Jeff has helped numerous banks apply for and comply with the Internal Revenue Code Subchapter S statute. He works closely with these banks to maintain the election (i.e., avoid built-in-gains and passive income taxes), resolve qualified shareholder issues and make and maintain Qualified Subchapter S Subsidiary Elections ("Q-Subs") and elections for Qualified Subchapter S Trusts and Small Business Trusts. He is an active member and participant in the Subchapter S Bank Association and attends their meetings and receives their literature regarding all Subchapter S issues relating to financial institutions. Additionally, there are favorable tax rules exclusively applicable to Subchapter S Corporations that he has successfully implemented for S Corp banks that generate significant tax savings.

He works with bank holding companies to meet their accounting and Federal Reserve reporting requirements including Form FR Y-6, Y-8, Y-9SP and Y-10. He has extensive experience in dealing with the peculiar Texas franchise and margin rules and New Mexico state income tax rules. Jeff also assists several banks with accounting for and disclosure of income taxes, including experience with uncertain income tax position accounting, considerations and disclosures with a $4 billion bank holding (PlainsCapital) and its subsidiaries and another large public company.

Jeff has assisted many bank executives and owners with their tax and estate planning needs. His tax experience also includes a wide variety of industries and entities, which include consolidated C and S Corporations, partnerships, estates, trusts and high wealth individuals.

Jeff does tax compliance, planning, preparation and SEC disclosure work for the second largest land-based drilling company in the U.S. (Patterson-UTI Energy, Inc. ticker:PTEN).

Jeff is a member of the AICPA, TSCPA, the local chapter of TSCPA and has served in the United Way Loaned Executive Program, on the United Way Stewardship Review Committee (6 years), as a TSCPA Director (5 years), and on the Hospice of Lubbock Board of Directors (3 years), and is currently serving on the board for Meals On Wheels.

Jeff grew up in Dalhart, Texas and has lived and practiced in this area his entire life.
